European
Integration School
Background
and idea
Lack or complete non-existence of knowledge
on European integration process is present both within
wider population and those individual who are shaping
our society and should in various manners contribute to
success of this process. This was the reason why non-governmental
organisations: Centre for Civic Education, Centre for
development of non-governmental organisations and European
Movement in Montenegro, with the support and understanding
of Foundation Open Society Institute- Office in Montenegro,
started unique programme of alternative education in the
field of history, principles and values of the European
Union.
European
Integration School is dedicated to understanding
of the idea, meaning, standards and symbols of European
integration, but also of European civilization and European
heritage in general.
Goal of the School is
education of citizens of Montenegro on European standards
and values in order to enable them to give their full
and valuable contribution to various aspects of this long
and complex process. This includes:
• Qualitative and quantitive enabling
of the participants for various types of activism connected
to promotion of the European integration idea and its
implementation
• Establishment of unique centre of organised,
programme and methodology wise adequately based educational
activity connected to European integration processes,
implementation and acceptance of European standards and
values
• Inspiring and initiation of similar
projects and actions which would be based on European
values, standards. Ideas and practice and which would
in adequate manner direct social processes in Montenegro
towards fulfilment of European perspective
Within the first six generations in Podgorica and three in Bijelo Polje, the school was successfully completed by 250 citizens of Montenegro, mostly activists of non-governmental organisations, political parties, journalists, public servants from local self-government and republican ministries, MPs, students and other individuals who have shown interest to connect their work with the public scene and give personal contribution to active involvement of Montenegro in the European integration process.
